Meet The Travel Bug – holidays planned around real families and real life

I’m Katie, a family travel specialist who plans friendly, accessible and inclusive holidays – from Disney and theme parks to beach breaks, winter escapes and longer adventures. Every trip starts with a proper conversation about what your family needs to feel calm, supported and excited to go.

Meet Katie

A travel agent who plans holidays the way real families actually travel

The Travel Bug grew from my own family holidays – the messy, joyful, real-life kind with sunscreen, snacks, forgotten teddies and “are we there yet?” on repeat. I know how much headspace it takes to plan a trip that works for everyone, and how important it is that it feels safe, calm and flexible.

When you book with me, you’re not just getting a list of deals. You’re getting honest advice, clear explanations and a sounding board for all those little questions that pop into your head at 11pm. I’ll talk you through the options, explain what’s included, and help you choose what genuinely fits your family – not just what’s on offer that week.

Inclusive & accessible holidays for every kind of family

I specialise in helping families find breaks that feel welcoming and inclusive. That might mean quieter resorts for sensory-sensitive travellers, step-free access for buggies or mobility needs, or simply making sure meal times, room layouts and flight times work with your routines.

  • Support with accessible rooms, transfers & equipment where available
  • Honest guidance on resort layout, facilities and distances
  • Ideas for gentler days, sensory breaks and calmer spaces

Frequently asked questions

A few quick answers to the things families ask most often about booking with The Travel Bug. If you’re still unsure about anything, just pop a question over – no pressure, no hard sell.

How does it work if I want to start a holiday enquiry?

Start by sending a quick enquiry with a few details about your family, dates and budget. I’ll come back with ideas and options, talk you through what’s included, and we’ll tweak things together until it feels right. Nothing is confirmed until you’re happy.

Do you charge extra fees for using The Travel Bug?

In most cases my support is covered by the holiday suppliers I work with, so you won’t pay more than if you booked direct – and often I can access better value or added extras. If a planning fee ever applies, I’ll always explain this clearly upfront.

Are my holidays financially protected?

Yes. The Travel Bug is part of The JLT Group with full ATOL and PTS protection, along with trusted, vetted suppliers. That means your money is protected and your booking is handled through secure, regulated channels.

Can you help with accessibility or additional needs?

Absolutely. Accessible and inclusive travel is a big part of what I do. I can look at room layouts, resort terrain, transfer options and flight times to help build a break that works with your family’s routines, mobility needs or sensory preferences.

What if I’m not sure where we want to go yet?

That’s totally fine. Tell me what your family enjoys – pools, quieter resorts, theme parks, UK breaks, sunshine – and I’ll suggest a few destinations and styles of holiday that fit your budget and time of year.
